Institute of Film and Television Art of Henan University
The Institute of Film and Television Art of Henan University has gathered the outstanding teachers and scientific research strength that research the film and television of Henan University. It pays attention to the frontiers of film and television art, film and television communication and film and television industry, and sets up the academic exchange platform. Gao Hongbo, director of the institute, is a doctor of communication science and postdoctoral of art, and he has years of experience in radio and television practice. The institute takes the prominent features of the central plains as the base point, and creates an academic brand with certain influence on the research of film, television art and culture communication in China. It provides basic research tools such as documentary electronic index and the social service function of media industry development, and studies the latest media culture cases in the central China area. This enables it to lead the media practice in the central China.
The Research Institute of Film and Television Arts relies on the institutions and platforms such as the Chinese Academy of Television, the CCTV Documentary Channel, Henan Television Station, the School of Journalism and Communication of Henan University, the School of Literature of Henan University and the open research center of the Humanities and Social Sciences of Henan University. It is widely connected with many research teams from the society. The Institute has 18 provincial projects, 15 publications, 6 provincial awards, and it sets a "documentary index website"(http://jlp.henu.edu.cn).
The institute has three research aspects:
1. Research on film and television arts (including research on television documentary, film, television, etc.).
2. The development of film and television culture industry (including the development of electronic indexing database for documentaries and website construction).
3. Research on film and television art theory and cultural communication (including communication aesthetics, film and television art theory, media criticism theory, etc.)
Institute of Media Research of Henan University
The Institute of Media Research of Henan University, founded in 2006, is the key scientific research institute of the Henan University. It has gathered the outstanding academic groups and backbone scientific research strength of the School of Journalism and Communication. Professor Zhang Juxi and Professor Li Yong successively served as director of the Institute. The Institute aims at international academic frontiers and tracks developments in the world media industry. It is based on the practical problems and needs of local media development, focusing on solving outstanding problems, fundamental problems and major problems in media theory, history and practice. It provides theoretical basis for the development of China's media industry, provides intellectual support for the formulation of media policies and regulations, and provides a multidisciplinary and multi perspective consideration for the exploration and development of the media.
The Institute of Media Research has three aspects:
1. Research on media strategy and business, includes media economy, news, editing and other practical issues. It is focusing on the development of media, media integration, contemporary media practice typical problems, major problems, specific problems and other areas to form the characteristics.
2. The media theory and criticism, includes the basic theory of communication and media, the research of frontier theory and the case criticism of media culture. It focuses on the research of cross-cultural communication and the research of media criticism.
3. Research on the history of media, includes the history of classified communication, the history of media thought and the history of media. It is devoted to combing the problems of the history of Chinese news and communication, introducing and criticizing the theories and problems related to the media in Europe and America.
In recent years, the Institute of Media Research has undertaken 8 national projects, 35 provincial projects. It has 20 provincial awards, 70 published academic works and 226 academic papers.
Editorial and Publishing Research Center
Editing and Publishing Research Center was founded in 1997, led by Professor Wang Zhenduo, named as the Press and Publishing Research Institute at that time, and it renamed as Editing and Publishing Research Center in 2007. Wang Zhenduo, Wang Liu Chun, Li Jianwei and Wang Pengfei successively served as the central directors of the research center.
The center has 18 researchers, including 5 professors and 13 associate professors, and there are 11 person who have doctoral degrees. Scientific research in the center can be divided into three directions: publishing industry and practice, digital and new media publishing, editing theory and publishing history.
In the past five years, the center for editing and publishing has successively undertaken "The Research on the Publishing Format and the Evaluation System of Chinese Academic Works" of the State Social Science Key Fund, "Research on the Copyright Strategy Management of Digital Publishing Enterprises", "The Research of Editorial Theory Under the View of Media Convergence", "60 years of China's Editing Study (1949 - 2009) " of the National Social Science Fund, " Research on the Status and Prospects of the Development of Editing and Publishing Education in China " of the Ministry of Education, "The Study of the Solitary Island Literature Journal ". It has 24 provincial scientific research projects. It assumes the only provincial bilingual course in journalism and communication discipline in Henan Province, which is Guided Reading of Publishing Culture Classics. It has published two monograph named Ming Lun Publishing Science Research, which has 12 books in total. It publishes the teaching materials Series of Editing and Publishing and Textbook Series of Editing and Publishing in the New Century. The center has published more than 100 papers in CSSCI journals such as Journalism and Communication Research, Modern Communication, Science and Technology and Publishing, Chinese Publishing, Publishing Science", Chinese Editors, Journal of Henan University and so on. The members have been awarded a number of scientific research awards, including the second prize of social sciences in Henan province.
